US hypercar maker, Hennessey Performance Engineering, has released a video teaser of another world record using the faster version of the Venom GT it revealed at SEMA last November.
Called the Venom GT Spyder, the new convertible comes with the same 7.0-litre supercharged V8 fitted to the previous Venom, but has had its boost wound up from 19psi to 26psi, raising peak power to an incredible 1082kW.
Now capable of running E85 ethanol mix, the engine sees its power increased by 155kW over the old car that set an unofficial speed record of 435km/h last year.
At SEMA the US firm suggested the new Venom GT Spyder had a theoretical top speed of an incredible 450km/h.
Weighing in at just 1244kg, the Lotus Exige-based Spyder takes just 2.4 seconds to hit 97km/h and reaches 300km/h in a mighty 10.9 seconds.
The official video of Hennessey’s world speed record attempt is said to go live late tonight, It’s not known if this time Guinness World Records will sanction the record.
Previous attempts, including the 2014 record attempt, were not officially verified because the car maker failed to record its top speed in both directions - something Guinness demands, to take into account elevation and windspeed.
