VIDEO: Lamborghini teases Aventador S

New short film celebrates the Lambo V12 and previews faster version of big supercar

Lamborghini has produced a short film that teases the forthcoming Aventador S supercar.

Featuring past-greats, like the 350GT, Miura, Countach and Diablo, the video has also been made to celebrate the V12 engine that powers them all.

Some commentators have suggested the video might do more just than tease a faster supercar suggesting the short film actually previews the firm's forthcoming hybridised V12, but only time will tell.

All will be revealed at the Detroit motor show next month when the wraps are taken off what's thought to be a new version of the Aventador, following last week's revelation the firm had trademarked the name 'Aventador S'.

Sitting above the standard car, but below the range-topping SV model, it’s thought the Aventador S will come with the regular car’s 6.5-litre V12 but with total power increased by at least 20kW more than the base model. That means the S version will come with around 535kW/690Nm.

To help differentiate itself from the standard Aventador, the S is expected to borrow styling cues from its hard-core SV sibling. This should include a more aggressive aero, a large new wing and deep front splitter.

It’s not likely the upgrades will see any big mechanical changes to the old-school supercar that was first introduced back in 2011.
