LINK & Co has released a new video to demonstrate its 01 SUV car sharing app that could help it become the automotive equivalent of Airbnb.
The short video, posted on the car-maker's Youtube channel, shows an owner of an 01 parking her vehicle in a German town centre.
Before she leaves her vehicle, the 01's infotainment system asks if she wants to initiate car sharing while she's at work. Setting the time she plans to return to her vehicle, the O1 then communicates its availability using a smartphone-based app allowing others to use the car while it's not in use.
According to the Chinese car-maker, it thinks the 01 will trigger a car sharing revolution when launched in China next year.
Based on the Common Modular Architecture that was developed in cooperation with Geely and Volvo in Sweden, the new 01 shares the same platform as the Volvo XC40 that arrives at the end of 2017.
Initially, LYNK will offer a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol that are both sourced from Volvo. Soon after launch a conventional and plug-in hybrid will be offered.
LYNK & CO aims to sell 500,000 vehicles by 2022.
Sales in Australia have yet to be announced but are likely and once confirmed, cars are expected to arrive here early 2018.
