Renault's reborn Alpine sub-brand has released a video to publicise the fact its all-new mid-engined, rear-wheel drive coupe is now available for order, but only if you live in one of its European markets.
The new short film, which appeared on alpinecars.com last night, shows three lightly disguised Alpines sliding around on a wet skid pan.
Thought to be near-production-ready, all three A120s shown in the clip appear to suggest the French sports car will stay true to the Renault Alpine Vision concept car that was revealed back in February.
Officially, the French car-maker is still to confirm the coupe's 'A120' name but Alpine has used the video to announce that it will make 1955 Premiere Edition coupes to help launch the brand.
To reserve a car, interested parties (within Europe) are invited to place a €2000 ($A2800) deposit via a downloadable Alpine app.
Prices for the new Alpine coupe are listed on the alpinecars.com as being "between €55,000-€60,000 ($A75,000-$A84,000) in France inclusive of tax.
Buyers of the first limited-run of cars will only have the choice of blue, white or black.
Alpine has yet to officially confirm what will power the A120. It’s thought it will come with a new mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine developed by Renaultsport that should generate up to 225kW and most likely be matched to a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Performance, meanwhile, has been confirmed by the website. The new coupe will reach 100km/h from standstill in 4.5 seconds.
Finally, if you order now, Alpine says deliveries will begin in Europe "towards the end of 2017" while right-hand drive markets like Australia, Japan and the UK will see deliveries knocked back to 2018.
As well as the new coupe, Alpine is expected to offer a convertible version of the A120 before expanding the range to other models including an SUV.
