Skoda has once again teased its all-new Kodiaq large SUV ahead of its world public debut at the end of September at the Paris motor show.
This time round, instead of a candid snap, or a picture of a camouflaged car built to support the Tour de France, we see undisguised shots of the seven-seat production vehicle in a short teasing video, but there's a catch.
Instead of seeing the whole car, Skoda has 'treated’ us to fast cuts that paint a picture of how the car is shaping up without actually revealing the whole vehicle.
From the images released along with the video it's possible to make out the production car's 3D grille, swept-back headlights, LED tail-lights and sharply creased lines that run from the front of the car to the rear.
On sale in Australia in the middle of 2017, Skoda says the new Kodiaq will offer "exceptional" levels of passenger and luggage space and claims that its luggage capacity, which stretches from 720 to 2065 litres (with rear seats folded), is the biggest in its class.
The Czech car-maker also confirmed that both five and seven seats will be offered and that the front passenger seat is capable of folding flat to carry loads measuring 2.9 metres long.
New technology will also be introduced to the brand. The Kodiaq comes with surround-view cameras that are capable of projecting a 180-degree view of the front or rear of the car to help navigate tricky terrain, or park safely.
The big Skoda will also come with Volkswagen Group's tow assist system that steers for you when reversing slowly and even brakes automatically while reversing if an object is detected.
Finally on the tech front, the Kodiaq will introduce sat-nav that features real-time traffic information and Care Connect that automatically calls emergency services if it detects an airbag has been triggered.
As well as the video, Skoda announced that it will actually unveil the Kodiaq before Paris on September 1 at an event in Berlin.
The Australian arrival of the Kodiaq, next year, kicks off something of a rush by the Czech car-maker to introduce new SUVs.
Following the Kodaiq in 2018 will be a larger, all-new Yeti that will be joined in rapid succession by two further SUVs, one of which is likely to be a smaller rival to Nissan's JUKE.
The last SUV to arrive is thought to be a sporty coupe version to rival the BMW X4.
All will remain on the Volkswagen MQB platform and the biggest seven-seat Kodiaq will remain its flagship SUV offering.
Available with two- or all-wheel drive, it will come powered by turbo petrol and diesel engines, while a plug-in hybrid will arrive soon after launch, but that version is unlikely to head Down Under.
Set to rival the Toyota Kluger, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-9, the big Skoda is expected to be aggressively priced and could undercut all three of them.
Much more will be revealed at the Paris motor show including the full engine line-up.
