Faraday Future has released a new video on its official Youtube channel that shows how its forthcoming SUV will outpace a Bentley Bentayga, Tesla Model X P100D and - even a Ferrari 488 GTB.
Since the car destined to go head-to-head with all three cars is at this stage just a prototype, the Chinese-backed US-based car-maker hasn’t claimed how quick the production version will be from standstill to 100km/h, but the video suggests a 2.8 second dash is more than plausible.
If that’s the case, the production Faraday could become the fastest-ever SUV, full stop, when it goes on sale in 2018.
Despite the video, little is yet known about how the firm’s first car is shaping up overall.
All we know is the pure-electric SUV has been styled by former BMW i3 and i8 designer Richard Kim.
It’s also very likely the new Tesla Model X rival will come with a powerful 100kWh lithium ion battery that will provide for a range of at least 500km.
All will be revealed when the teasing stops and the still to be named SUV is unveiled at the 2017 CES show in Las Vegas.
Faraday Future’s first car should be on sale by 2018, but that’s only if it the company resolves its serious financial difficulties.
According to reports, its Chinese backer has run out of the billions needed to build the factory and finish development of Faraday’s first vehicle. In the US, some suppliers have also begun legal proceedings to force the car maker to pay the tens of millions of dollars of unpaid bills.
