Koenigsegg has released a new video of its record-breaking top speed run in Nevada over the weekend that saw its Agera RS hit an incredible 458km/h.
The short vid that was posted on social media overnight shows the Swedish hypercar complete just two runs.
Showing considerable restraint, test driver Niklas Lilja accelerates slowly up the gears carefully avoiding wheel-spin that could cause the tyres to overheat.
Once up to around 300km/h, the Koenigsegg test driver pins the throttle and deploys the full 865kW/1280 generated by the twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8.
On the first run the Agera RS tops out at almost 438km/h on the stretch of closed highway that runs from Las Vegas to Pahrump, but on the second journey -- in the opposite direction -- the downhill stretch saw Lilja nurse the Bugatti Chiron rival to an astonishing 458km/h.
Combining both runs, Koenigsegg says its Agera RS recorded a GPS verified average speed 447.2km/h (277.0mph).
Perhaps more terrifying, all runs were carried out on standard Michelin road tyres and were not changed between runs.
For now, the official world's fastest car remains the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport that, back in 2010, recorded a431.0km/h (267.9mph). However, it's thought the Swedish car-maker is in the process of applying for Guinness verification.
It's not just top speed Koenigsegg has been targeting. Recently, it released a video of the same Agera RS recording a 0-400km/h-0 time of just 36.44 seconds – an incredible 5.5 seconds quicker than a Bugatti Chrion.
