VIDEO: Watch Rimac EV hypercar track tested
Wild pure-electric Veyron-beater demonstrates the power of quad-motors and all-wheel drive in the hands of a rally champRimac has released a video of its Concept_One supercar carrying out high-speed vehicle dynamic testing at the Grobnik Racetrack in northern Croatia.
The video shows the Concept_One driven by Juraj Sebalj, one of the country's most successful rally and hill climb champion. In the video, Sebalj tests the Concept_One's torque vectoring capability at the very limit.
According to the Croatian rally ace, the Concept_One can be set up for understeer, oversteer or to be neutral at the limit thanks to the new torque vectoring system that can be adjusted through the car's infotainment system.
Producing a combined 800kW/1600Nm from its four electric motors, the Concept_One is not traction-challenged to any great extent.
Powered by a liquid-cooled 82kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Croatian car maker claims the One will have a range of at least 300km.
Earlier in the year the Rimac starred at the 2016 Geneva motor show where prices for a production version of the Concept_One were announced at €850,000 ($A1.25 million our money).
For that you get a pure-electric hypercar that takes just 2.6 seconds to reach 100km/h from standstill and 9.9 seconds to reach 400m.
Maximising acceleration is the novel use of a two two-speed dual-clutch pack (one for each motor) on the rear axle. The first gear provides for the sub-3.0 second acceleration runs while the second ratio allows for a top speed around 355km/h.
