Volkswagen Amarok TDI550 Canyon fills gap

Limited-edition model due next month is based on the TDI550 Core variant

A new limited-edition version of the Volkswagen Amarok ute will be available from next month.

The new dual-cab model, dubbed the Volkswagen Amarok Canyon TDI550, will be powered by the same 165kW/550Nm (180kW on overboost) 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel and eight-speed ZF automatic transmission as Core and Highline variants.

However, it will be limited to 350 units, fitted with extras and priced at $57,990 plus on-road costs -- $5400 more than the price of the TDI550 Core ($52,590 plus ORCs).

Buyers will be offered a choice of four exterior colours – Indium Grey, Deep Black, Candy White and Outback Orange. The last colour will be exclusive to the Canyon model and comes with unique black fender extensions. Decals on the flanks and tailgate will further identify the Amarok Canyon.
