The 2023 Volkswagen Caddy van and people-mover range is now on sale, with all models gaining wireless smartphone charging, lane assist and an upgraded front assist system for no additional cost.
The pricing announcement for the MY23 Caddy is welcome news for buyers after significant increases were introduced over the past 12 months.
According to Volkswagen, the front assist system can now detect cyclists and pedestrians from 5-85km/h as well as oncoming traffic when turning at an intersection, applying the brakes automatically if needed.
The updates mean the Cargo and Crewvan commercial versions are now on par with the Caddy people-mover and California models in terms of safety gear.
That said, the optional park assist system on Caddy Cargo is currently unavailable due to the global semi-conductor shortage.
The optional Discover Media satellite navigation system is also temporarily unavailable to order on Caddy Cargo.
Other updates for MY23 include new decorative chrome trim on the seven-seat Caddy Life people-mover’s sliding doors, sliding door rail and tailgate, while the Crewvan and California score hinged opening side windows within the sliding side doors.
That latter feature allows for roughly 40mm of pop-out space and aids ventilation of the cabin and cargo/accommodation space.
