Volkswagen’s 2020 T-Cross SUV has been crowned by a new flagship 110TSI model - before the city SUV has even arrived in Australian showrooms.
Officials have confirmed the incoming Toyota C-HR and Mitsubishi ASX rival will be crowned by a 110TSI variant in Australia, which will land June 2020 – only weeks after the already-confirmed 85TSI’s touchdown in May.
Combined with the new-generation Volkswagen Touareg, the new T-Roc small SUV (pictured below) and T-Cross light SUV will bring to seven the number of models in Volkswagen’s SUV range.
The 110TSI's more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will produce 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, compared with the 85TSI’s 85kW/200Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder.
The 110TSI drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, bringing a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.5 seconds and fuel usage figure of 5.2L/100km.
The 85TSI T-Cross range is set to launch in Australia in May 2020, followed by the 110TSI version in June.
Volkswagen Australia is yet to confirm official pricing for either variant, but expect a ball park figure of $25,000 for the entry model, pushing as high as $40,000 for the flagship.
