Volkswagen has shown Usain Bolt-like speed in releasing its Runner special edition models hot on the heels of the London Olympics.
The German brand has shaved $2000 off the entry price of the Caddy and a whopping $6750 off the entry Transporter models with its new special editions. And that's without factoring in the driveaway pricing for the limited edition models. The Caddy Van Runner Special Edition starts at $19,990 drive-away, and the Transporter Runner Special Edition is priced at $29,990 — also inclusive of on-road costs.
But you’ll need to be quick to catch a deal on the keenly priced VW commercials, which are available in limited numbers of 200 Caddys and 350 Transporters.
VW claims the vans are “equipped to withstand the rigors of courier use in Germany”, and include hard-wearing, heavy-duty trim and unique ‘Runner’ badging.
Standard features on both include ESP, hill-hold control, air-conditioning and daytime running lights.
The Caddy Van Runner is equipped with a 63kW/160Nm turbocharged petrol engine with a combined fuel cycle of 6.9L/100km; while the Transporter features a 75kW/250Nm turbocharged diesel engine, returning 7.5L/100km.
The Caddy and Transporter Runner special editions offer 800 and 1149kg payloads respectively, with a 3-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
