Volkswagen Australia has announced a $3000 factory bonus for selected variants of the Golf R hatch and wagon.
About 200 examples of the MY18 Volkswagen Golf R hatch and wagon are being offered with a $3000 discount on drive-away pricing in all states and territories until March 31.
The deal does not include MY19 Golf R variants such as the Golf R Special Edition.
Volkswagen says the campaign represents the best value for the all-wheel drive Golf R in its current form. The Australian arm does not nominate a price with the $3000 factory bonus in effect, but it’s likely to bring the Golf R’s drive away figure to about $60,000.
That gets you a 213kW/380Nm tune of Volkswagen’s longstanding EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four, sending drive to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch auto. Officially, the hatch rockets to 100km/h from rest in 4.8 seconds, the wagon in five seconds.
Meantime, Volkswagen it has received the final allotment of the Golf R Special Edition after extensive shipping delays. About 170 examples of the original 400-strong allocation remains unsold, each fitted with a fiery Akrapovic exhaust and other enhancements.
Elsewhere in the Volkswagen range, there is drive-away pricing on the Golf hatch, wagon and Alltrack ranges, including a $47,990 drive away deal on the MY19 Golf GTI until March 31. The entry-level Golf Trendline hatch starts at $25,990 drive-away.
Volkswagen will launch its all-new Golf Mk8 next year and all of the brand’s models are now covered by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and 12 months of roadside assist, plus the option of capped-price service packages.
