Registrations of interest in the 2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz have opened in the lead-up to the battery-electric people-mover and commercial van’s Australian debut at the Cronulla Surf Masters championship on October 21.
With the local release of the VW ID. Buzz now officially set for December 2024, Volkswagen Australia is inviting interested parties to indicate their preference between the five-seat, seven-seat and Cargo configurations in order to plan its eventual product rollout.
Since the ID. Buzz has been styled in the ilk of the classic Kombi van, Volkswagen will lean into this iconic heritage by staging its Australian debut on the beach alongside “dozens of beloved Type 2” Kombis, providing Sydneysiders the chance to compare the original with its spiritual successor.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles director Ryan Davies is tipping the ID. Buzz will be something of a hit with Aussies as the popularity of EVs continues to increase in the local market.
“There is nothing on the road that melds love-brand heritage with new-age technical sophistication quite like the ID. Buzz,” he said.
“In three weekends’ time Aussies can see the first ID. Buzz on our shores… and they are now able to register their interest for the five-seat, seven-seat or Cargo van body styles at the Volkswagen Australia website.
“We anticipate the coolest battery-electric vehicle may quickly become the hottest ticket in town for families, retirees, tradies, surfers and the environmentally conscious all told.”
Pricing for the ID. Buzz won’t be released until the middle of next year at the earliest and we’re still yet to see anything official regarding the GTX performance version that has thus far only been teased once.
That said, we have spied a seven-seat GTX testing in Europe in near-production trim, which suggests we don’t have too much longer to wait for its global reveal.
