Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Wolfsburg Edition lands

Volkswagen has released pricing and specification details for the new Tiguan 162TSI Wolfsburg Edition, which lands in showrooms this month.

Based on the 162TSI Highline, the Wolfsburg is priced from $55,490 (plus on-road costs) and is limited to 500 units. It follows in the wheel tracks of the Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg and Golf R Wolfsburg editions.

The Wolfsburg's $6000 premium over the 162TSI Highline gets buyers the R-Line and Sound and Vision Packages, a $5900 impost when optioned normally, along with privacy glass, head-up display, choice of three premium paint colours ($700 – Oryx white, Iridium Grey and Deep Black Pearl), requisite badging and an exterior ‘black pack’.

Together, the Sound and Vision and R-Line packs bundle a 12.3-inch Active Info Display, Dynaudio premium sound system and 360-degree camera along with R-Line interior, gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels, and gloss black accents on the grille, mirrors, window frames, spoiler and roof rails.

The Wolfsburg trinkets are in addition to 162TSI Highline’s regular features, such as an 8.0-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control and leather upholstery.

The mechanical elements are carryover from the Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline, meaning a 162kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder that sends drive to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Volkswagen Australia says 500 examples of the Tiguan Wolfsburg will be available initially, hinting that it could import more subject to local demand. Order books are open now.
