Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Wolfsburg Edition arrives

Seven-seat mid-size SUV gets Wolfsburg special-edition treatment for the first time

Volkswagen Australia has announced a special limited-edition version of the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, which applies ‘Wolfsburg’ status to the German brand’s seven-seat mid-size SUV for the first time.

This is not a member of the facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan range that is set to arrive in Australia in March and will eventually extend to Allspace variants.

Due for release in June, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Wolfsburg Edition is priced from $59,990 plus on-road costs and, as we’ve seen on the five-seat version, packs in plenty extra gear.

In this case, there’s a tough-looking exterior treatment with large 20-inch gloss black Suzuka alloy wheels, black paint applied to the lower front grille, mirrors, roof rails and window surrounds, dark “90 per cent light absorbing” window tint and special Wolfsburg badging.

The latter involves a newly-designed colour variant of the signature Wolfsburg crest, which is a nod to Volkswagen’s home and global headquarters.

Pure White exterior paint is a standard no-cost option, while metallic Pyrite Silver, metallic Platinum Grey or pearl-effect Deep Black will cost another $800.

A panoramic glass sunroof can also be added for $2000.

Inside, there’s an R-Line package fitted standard which adds a digital instrument cluster, Dynaudio premium sound system and area view parking navigation.

A head-up display will also be included, a feature unique to this Allspace variant.

Powered by a detuned, but still peppy, version of the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine found in the Golf GTI, the Wolfy will delivers 162kW of power and 350Nm of torque, down from the GTI’s 180kW/370Nm.

It’s paired to a seven-speed DSG auto, with power sent to all four wheels via VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, making it good for a claimed 6.8sec run from 0-100km/h.

Fuel consumption is rated at 9.0L/100km on the combined cycle.

Like the regular Tiguan, Volkswagen covers the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, including the Wolfsburg Edition, with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and offers three-year/45,000km and five-year/60,000km service packages priced at $1350 and $2300 respectively.

Volkswagen Australia has also announced that Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace 132TSI 4MOTION will return to showrooms in May “after extended unavailability due to supply constraints”.
