The local Volkswagen Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace line-up will soon be back to full strength following an influx of new stock arriving on Aussie soil – and there’s more on the way.
According to Volkswagen Australia, roughly 1400 new mid-size SUVs have arrived in dealerships around the country, with the fresh batch comprising about 300 Tiguan 132TSI variants, 450 Tiguan 162TSI and 650 flagship Tiguan R models.
Both the Tiguan 132TSI and 162TSI were temporarily removed from sale earlier in the year, owing to the supply shortage.
The bulk of the fresh supplies is directed toward the high-end 162TSI and R models, which reflects customer demand, according to VW, while also maximising profits for the car company and its dealers.
VW says almost 60 per cent of all Tiguan demand is for these two grades.
Supplies of the entry-level Tiguan 110TSI Life are strong, according to local executives, while several months’ worth of Tiguan Allspace production is ready and waiting to be shipped from Germany.
However, the special-edition Adventure has been pulled from the range.
Also departing the line-up will be the 147TDI powertrain, which will be removed from both the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace for the 2024 model year.
Elsewhere, an electric tailgate, side assist and rear traffic alert will be returning to the equipment lists of the Elegance and R-Line variants of both the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace.
The MY24 Tiguan R, meantime, will regain the premium Harman Kardon sound system as standard.
Pricing and full specification details of the 2024 Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace will be announced closer to launch at the end of this year.
That will leave a year to run for the second-generation Tiguan, which is due to be replaced late in 2024 or early 2025.
The seven-seat Allspace will reportedly be replaced globally by the second-generation Volkswagen Tayron in 2025.
