Volvo joins iPod generation...
Volvo is set to take a bite of into IPod's growing Apple generation with an adapter kit for 'classic' OvlovsApple iPod users and 'classic' Volvo fanciers unite!. Thanks to to supplier PhatNoise Inc and Apple, Volvo Cars has developed an adapter kit for iPod installation in older Volvo S80s (1999-on) and S60, V70 and XC70s (2001-on)
The kit will be released worldwide before the end of 2005 and allows the magic white music box to plug into the audio systems of the above mentioned models.
A host of car manufacturers now offer iPod connectivity. Such a feature is now considered must-have in new generation models.
“With the Volvo iPod Adapter, it is very easy to plug an iPod into your Volvo's audio system and to have all your music instantly available,” says Lars-Erik Roos, Managing Director, Accessory Business Unit at Volvo Cars.
When an iPod player has been connected to the car through the new Volvo iPod Adapter, the text “Volvo for life” appears in the display. The iPod is then controlled using the car’s own audio controls. In addition, the iPod is powered and charged by the car battery when the engine is running.
The Volvo iPod Adapter comes with an installation kit specifically written for each Volvo model. The connection cable is routed to the storage compartment in the front middle armrest, where the iPod player can be placed when it is connected. The Volvo iPod Adapter must be installed by a Volvo dealer.
