Volvo recalls 507,000 cars over fire risk
Faulty engine component triggers mass recall for Swedish car-makerVolvo has recalled 507,000 vehicles worldwide over an engine fault that could result in a fire.
Volvo said the global recall has been triggered following an internal investigation that identified that "in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform".
The cars at risk include vehicles made between 2014 and 2019 that are powered by its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel.
These include the S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60 and the XC90.
Despite identifying the fault, the Swedish car-maker says it has received no reports of accidents or injuries but did confirm following a failure of the intake manifold that "in the very worst case, there is a possibility that a localised engine bay fire may occur".
Affected owners will receive a letter asking them to contact their local dealer.
