Volvo Car Australia has announced its annual Awards of Excellence for the top performing dealerships around the country.
Hosted at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo this week, the gala dinner recognised distinguished dealerships based on rigorous criteria including customer service, sales and market share.
The awards were held as Volvo Australia experiences a significant upshift in sales.
The pinnacle award, the best major metropolitan dealership, was awarded to Volvo Cars Sydney.
Regional dealerships also fared strongly, with Geelong-based Rex Gorrell Volvo taking out best metropolitan dealership and Southern Highlands-based Allan Mackay Volvo winning best rural dealership.
Volvo Cars Sydney sales person Johanna Storm took out Volvo’s sales consultant of the year, while Jason Wang, from the same dealership, won sales manager of the year.
The Scandinavian car-maker's local managing director Kevin McCann praised dealerships and their staff after what was a record year in sales for the Swedish marque in Australia last year.
Volvo Australia sales grew 18.9 per cent year-on-year in 2016, to 5878 vehicles overall, and sales are expected to strengthen with the fresh arrival of the S90/V90 pairing, and the anticipated arrival of an all-new XC60 late this year.
“These are all thoroughly deserved awards and we are very pleased to be able to recognise the outstanding efforts of our best and most dedicated dealers,” McCann said.
