The carsales Car of the Year People's Choice winner will be decided by youcoty2021 peopleschoice editorialstatic 1024x166 1

Time is running out if you haven't already cast your vote for the 2021 carsales Car of the Year People's Choice award. The reader's poll closes this Friday (November 12) before we announce the winner next Monday (November 15). See how to vote below and get to it!

The first stage of the 2021 carsales Car of the Year, proudly presented by Bingle, has been signed off and now it’s your turn to have your say.

We revealed our list of 30 contenders on October 1, after which the new Kia Sportage was added as a last-minute entry, and on November 1 we published our list of top 10 finalists.

Like the 2020 version of Australia’s top automotive consumer award, the 2021 carsales Car of the Year judging process will be a COVID-safe affair, with the RedBook team again doing the heavy lifting of crunching the numbers on ownership and running costs.

This year, however, after the test team whittled down the field of 31 contenders to just 10 finalists plus two wildcards, the majority of judges were able to conduct back-to-back testing of the majority of those 12 models.

The diverse collection of new models in contention for this year’s award include cutting-edge electric cars, SUVs that raise the bar in Australia’s top-selling segment and the best examples of the small hatch, mid-size sedan/wagon and people-mover genres we’ve seen in years.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Polestar 2 are both all-new EVs, while the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Land Rover Defender 90 are the first new examples of their breed for many years.

In between, there’s a pair of fully renewed Korean mid-size SUVs in the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, plus an all-new luxury contender in the same class from the same stable (Genesis GV70).

The slick new Kia Carnival people-mover sees Kia join Hyundai with two finalists this year, while two redesigned Volkswagen Group vehicles – the Volkswagen Golf Mk8 and Skoda Octavia – round out the top 10 brandishing class-leading driving experiences.

So vote now for your 2021 carsales Car of the Year People’s Choice winner via the poll below. Voting closes on November 12 and we’ll announce the winner on November 15 – two days before we name the carsales Car of the Year for 2021, proudly presented by Bingle, on November 17.
