Vote for your top car of 2023

The carsales Car of the Year People’s Choice winner will be decided by youcoty2023 peopleschoice editorialstatic 1024x166 2

We’re now exactly two weeks away from announcing the 2023 carsales Car of the Year, proudly presented by Bingle – on Wednesday, November 15.

Before then, however, it’s your turn to have your say, via the 2023 carsales Car of the Year People’s Choice award, voting is now open and closes on November 13.

We revealed our list of 30 contenders on October 19 and on October 26 we published our list of 10 finalists plus two wildcards.

As is tradition, it’s now your turn to nominate your top new car of 2023, so see how to vote below and get to it!

Australia’s top automotive consumer award continues to be backed by the industry’s best resale value, running costs and total cost of ownership data from the experts at RedBook.

And once again the cost of ownership component of our judging will be weighted at 50 per cent, with the votes from our 10 judges accounting for the other half of the decision.

As usual, there will be only one winner, plus two Highly Commended models, and while our top 12 cars are an eclectic group in 2023, we expect judging and cost of ownership scores to be tight.

In case you missed it, we’ve listed our 10 finalists and two wildcards again below, and this year they include no fewer than 10 SUVs, three EVs, two hybrids, one hatchback and a fastback.

carsales Car of the Year is determined by a combination of votes from the 10 judges after a week of testing and comprehensive cost of ownership data supplied to carsales exclusively by Australia’s number-one automotive valuation authority, RedBook.

RedBook’s scores are calculated based on the following six areas:

  • Price compared to other models in the same market segment
  • Depreciation: Average retail (non-private) value of a ‘good’ three-year-old example with 45,000km
  • Running costs: Fuel, tyres, insurance and finance over three years
  • Aftersales: Servicing, warranty and roadside assistance
  • New technology: Availability of nine safety features designed to protect occupants and other road users
  • Bonus points: Selected stand-out features standard across the range

The judges then provide their own assessment on four criteria: safety, innovation and technology, practicality and presentation, and road testing.

Crucially, each vehicle is assessed in the context of its market segment rather than against the other finalists and the award is presented to the entire model range rather than a single variant.

The 2023 carsales Car of the Year proudly presented by Bingle will be announced on November 15.

Voting is closed, now see who you chose as the 2023 Carsales People's Choice.
