Volkswagen has published pricing and driveline details for upcoming Passat and performance Golf models in its in-house magazine.
The prices and engine/tranmission combination model offerings for the new, larger Passat and the R32 all-wheel drive V6 Golf performance flagship appear in the latest edition of Volkswagen Magazine.
According to the range and pricing information, the new Passat range will boast three sedans and three wagons and both front and all-wheel drive variants when it arrives Down Under this Autumn.
Though pricing for the 103kW/320Nm 2.0 TDI sedan and wagon are still to be confirmed, VW quotes $44,900 for the entry-level 147kW/280Nm petrol 2.0 Turbo FSI six-speed auto sedan. The wagon is $2000 more.
The 184kW/330Nm 3.2 V6 FSI sedan gets a six-speed DSG drivetrain and 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard and will arrive at $54,990. The same premium is asked for the wagon.
The all-wheel drive R32 Golf gets a 184kW/320Nm version of the 3.2-litre V6 and the choice of conventional six-speed manual and six-speed DSG gearboxes. Unlike its other Golf stablemates, however, the R32 will be offered in both three and five-door form down under.
If this option makes it to the local market it will be a departure for VW. The last performance Golf VR6 was offered in three-door only and the current runaway sales success Golf GTI is offered in five-door form only.
Look out for CarPoint's local launch impressions of the new Passat in early April.
