
Former Director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business at Ford, Jost Capito, will take up a new position as head of Volkswagen Motorsport from May 1.
53-year old Capito, whose most recent public outing was the introduction of the Fiesta ST in Geneva, takes over at VW from Kris Nissen, who will remain employed by Volkswagen in an advisory capacity.
A qualified engineering graduate, Capito has experience in areas of motor sport competition as diverse as Formula One and the Paris-Dakar Rally. His career began with BMW in 1984, working on high-performance engines. Five years later he moved to Porsche, initially leading the Carrera Cup Organisation. Subsequently his role expanded to take in all Porsche racing activities.
Between the years of 1996 and 2001 he worked in executive roles with Sauber Petronas Engineering, including COO at the Sauber Red Bull F1 team from 1998. Near the end of 2001, he relocated to Ford, where he has been employed up until now.
