Volkswagen to offer aftermarket kits for Golf GTI, Golf R

Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R owners could have cause to celebrate, with the local arm securing a partnership with German tuning house Oettinger.

With Volkswagen having established ties with the tuner on a global scale, Australian stakeholders have confirmed they will begin to offer the upgrades on an official basis from next month.

"We've teamed up with Oettinger on a global level. First we have a body kit that is available for a Golf GTi or Golf R, which consists of a front spoiler, side skirts, the rally style rear diffuser, a much larger rear wing as well as a quad exhaust outlet," a Volkswagen Australia spokesman said.

"It's something to take the looks of the current car to that next level."

The catch is that the body kits are only available for the current generation GTI and Golf R Mark VII, however, Volkswagen is working with the company to diversify the local offering.

Stakeholders have confirmed that everything is on the table.

On top of the "wishlist items" are performance and cosmetic kits for the Amarok utility, which VW Australia is keenly pursuing.

The new Golf kits will be available from next month. Volkswagen Australia hasn’t confirmed pricing at this stage but says the kit will be covered for the duration of the factory warranty if it is fitted from new.

For existing vehicles retrofitted with the kit by Volkswagen, a two-year warranty applies.
