Walkinshaw takes Harrop under the wing

Two companies well known to Holden and HSV owners are forming a strategic alliance to market performance parts

Harrop Engineering's performance parts will be distributed nationally by Walkinshaw Performance in a new deal hammered out to support Holden and HSV enthusiasts.

Fresh from announcing a Queensland distributor, Walkinshaw Performance was the name pulled out of the hat to sell Harrop Engineering's performance parts for Holdens and HSVs.

Both Harrop and Walkinshaw have a long standing relationship with Holden and Holden Special Vehicles. Walkinshaw is owned by Scottish racing driver Tom Walkinshaw; known for campaigning Holdens in touring car races during the eighties and for his part ownership of Holden Special Vehicles.

Harrop has enjoyed some synergies with HSV, providing the engineering expertise for a host of unique HSV features -- and probably best remembered for the 5.7-litre 'stroker' engine fitted to the Commodore before the introduction of the all-alloy Gen III (LS1) engine in 1999.

Harrop isn't just a one-make partner, of course. They're tasked with sorting out the Eaton supercharger for the upcoming Toyota TRD Aurion (more here).

Walkinshaw Performance has only been operating for six months, which is why the Queensland distributor has just been announced. The distributors in each state will sell Harrop products alongside Walkinshaw's own items and the two brands will complement each other in the retail sector.

The Walkinshaw products are aimed principally at VE Commodore models (including the HSV E-Series), whereas Harrop products can cater to owners of older cars. As part of the agreement, the two companies will also work together developing new products and technology.
