Want a free ride in the Batmobile?
Batman fanatics might be able to hitch a lift this month, but there’s a catchBatman Day (September 21) is just around the corner and to celebrate, Uber is bringing the Batmobile to the streets of two major Australian cities.
The catch is, if you want to be Robin for the day, you’ll have to be in either Sydney or Adelaide this month to hitch a free ride with Batman.
The cool opportunity is thanks to a partnership between Uber and Discovery Australia, with the Batmobile set to appear in Sydney between 11am and 3pm on September 20 and 21, and then in Adelaide on September 27 and 28.
This year’s Batman Day celebration is extra special as it marks 85 years since the Caped Crusader swooped from Gotham City straight into the hearts of kids and adults alike.
Available on a first come first served basis, riders will need to be solo travellers, as there’s only room for one passenger next to Batman.
To secure a booking, riders will also need to be within a 5km radius of the city’s CBD or nearby the Batmobile, during the times/dates listed above.
It’s also worth noting that in the case of wet weather, Uber will be in touch to offer alternate dates for Batmobile rides.
“There is no superhero more iconic than the Caped Crusader, and no ride more iconic than the Batmobile, so we are excited to be giving Aussies the opportunity to experience the Batmobile for the first time,” said Warner Bro managing director Sasha Mackie.
“Batman Day is a day where all fans are invited to celebrate all things the Dark Knight, so whether you love the movies or find your passion in the catalogue of comics, animated series and games, a trip in the Batmobile is something all fans can enjoy.”
Uber Australia and NZ managing director Emma Foley said the company is thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros.
“Discovery Australia to help Aussies celebrate Batman Day in style by offering fans in Sydney and Adelaide the truly unique experience of taking a ride in Batman’s iconic Batmobile,” she said.
“For two days only, the trips will be available on demand and for free on the Uber app, so fans can experience the ultimate thrill of riding shotgun in the Batmobile.”
