According to website AskMen and online dating company Zoosk, putting certain types of cars into your online dating profile can increase your chances of receiving swipes, likes and messages.
People who have a car in their photos get messaged 165 percent more than a vehicle-less profile. By featuring a Jeep in your profile, that catapults the messages by 243 percent! Obviously the appeal of an off-roading adventure appeals to all the singles ready to mingle.
If you have a photo with a Ferrari, Porsche or other exotic cars forget about it! Surprisingly the more mainstream brands like Toyota have a better chance at boosting your messages. It's a swipe right to mainstream cars.
What about if you include info about what you drive in your bio or conversation? Well it may have the opposite effect to the photos of you and your Jeep. Also don’t reference that you own a van, for two reasons really. One, it decreases messages by 72 percent and two, it is just creepy man! We’ve seen the horror films!
According to the research dropping into the convo that you drive a BMW, Nissan, Land Rover, Subaru, Prius or Mercedes showed an increase in messages, with percentages ranging from 79 to 11. As for what cars that brought a decrease in responses, vans, Ferrari, Tesla and Lexus proved not to be a winner. Just because you splash the cash on a sweet ride doesn't mean you’ll find love in a flash. In the words of legendary singer Shania Twain “So you’ve got a car? That don’t impress me much.”
At the end of the day, the photo in your online dating and Tinder profile should be of you and that should really be what wins over prospective love interests. As much as a fancy car may seem to be a winning formula, this research shows a Jeep or Toyota can do the job just as well.
