Just a couple of weeks after US rally legend and stunt driver Ken Block announced his new partnership with Audi, the first project has emerged: Electrikhana.
Letting the ‘hoonigan’ loose in some of its most powerful and iconic models as a welcome to the German brand, we’ve already seen Block behind the wheel of several cars including the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo, the S1 quattro and a DTM race car.
Now Block has announced plans that include a highly-specced and “very top secret” Audi e-tron that he says is officially in the works and will feature in a new instalment of the Gymkhana franchise, dubbed Electrikhana.
According to a video posted on his YouTube channel, Block says the Electrikhana film is scheduled for release in 2022, with plenty more planned before then including a three-part series exploring the Audi’s “influence, heritage and the racing future”.
“This union will also see me exploring Audi’s cutting-edge racing and EV technologies, plus serve as a catalyst to push the limits of what’s possible in an electric vehicle. This partnership is literally a dream, decades in the making,” said Block.
Upcoming episodes are also set to offer an intimate look at the new Audi RS Q e-tron race car built for the 2022 Dakar Rally, which Block could even pilot in the legendary off-road event.
For anyone still wondering why he made the switch to electrified vehicles, Block said: “For me, it’s simple really: it’s new. It’s high-level performance. It’s the future. And new technology and forward thinking – the things Audi is great at – can be used to have even more fun with cars, and I am all about that.
“I can’t wait to share more details on the vehicle Audi is building for Electrikhana – it’s going to be insane,” he said.
