Xbox has released the first trailer for Forza Motorsport 8 and locked in an October 10 release for its “most technically advanced and authentic racing game” to date.
Every Forza game has championed a new vehicle or two as the ‘cover cars’ of that particular edition and this time around both vehicles are cutting-edge products from General Motors: the Cadillac V-Series.R racer and the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.
For anyone not familiar with the Forza franchise, the ‘Motorsport’ games are all track and competition-based while the ‘Horizon’ titles are open-world and allow players to drive on public roads, through the bush and generally clown about as they see fit.
Much like the inter-manufacturer rivalries of the auto-industry (ie: Holden v Ford), the Forza Motorsport games are Microsoft’s answer to the Sony PlayStation’s Gran Turismo franchise, with the two tech giants endlessly trying to outdo each other with each new edition.
Forza Motorsport 8 will feature 20 of the world’s most iconic and famous motorsport venues in which players will be able to pilot more than 500 vehicles from launch, including the previously mentioned Caddy racer and electrified Corvette.
Turn 10 Studios was given exclusive development and pre-reveal access to both vehicles in technological, mechanical and cosmetic contexts, to ensure the cover cars’ in-game driving experience matched their real-world performance.

No mere mortal will ever get the chance to race the V-Series.R wheel to wheel with similarly equipped machinery, but Aussies will one day get the chance to own and drive the Corvette E-Ray in real life – albeit in limited numbers and at significant cost.
Local timing and pricing for the E-Ray is yet to be announced but odds are it won’t be here until at least next year, meaning Forza Motorsport 8 will be the first and perhaps only way for punters to sample the first electrified Corvette product… at least until it’s added to Gran Turismo 7 in an update or purchasable add-on.

“We are excited to see the first customer impressions of Corvette E-Ray both in real life and through ‘Forza Motorsport’ being shared at the same time,” Chevrolet Corvette product marketing manager Harlan Charles said.
“While Corvette will always be America’s sports car, ‘Forza Motorsport’ is one way we continue to elevate awareness of what Corvette offers on the world stage.”
Forza Motorsport 8 will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10 and 11 PCs via the Microsoft Store and Steam, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass as of October 10, with pre-orders now open.
