WATCH: The late Ken Block lets rip for final time

Hoonigan releases stuntman’s last action-packed video a year after his death

Ken Block may no longer be with us but that doesn’t mean his legacy has faded away. In fact it’s only getting stronger, as evidenced by Hoonigan’s release of the late rally racer and action sportsman’s latest – and ultimately last – gymkhana edit.

Shot in Mexico City about 13 months ago and featuring the monstrous Audi S1 Hoonitron, the new video is called ‘Ken Block’s Electrikhana TWO: One More Playground; Mexico City in the Audi S1 Hoonitron’ and it features arguably more smoke, skids and pirouettes than any previous gymkhana edit.

The audio is provided by and consists exclusively of the walling sound of Formula E-spec electric motors and squealing tyres as they’re shredded on Mexico City’s asphalt and concrete road surfaces.

Roughly a quarter of the video is dedicated to the late, great stunt driver and comprises a highlights reel from his myriad viral videos spanning his tenures with Subaru, Ford, Audi and of course his own brand Hoonitron.

Electrikhana TWO: One More Playground; Mexico City in the Audi S1 Hoonitron was published on December 6 and has already been watched more than 3.86 million times.

The send-off feature was captioned with the following: “In November of 2022, Ken Block and the Hoonigan team headed to Mexico City, MX to film the next instalment of the Electrikhana series with the Audi S1 Hoonitron.

“Just over one month later, the devastating loss of Ken Block meant that the project was shelved – until now.

“Block, The Hoonigans, and Audi continue pushing the limits of what’s possible in the performance EV world with Electrikhana TWO, sliding through iconic areas of Mexico City in Block’s infamously aggressive, rally-inspired driving style.

“Improving the car immediately after the first film, Block and Audi built on important development lessons from their experience in Las Vegas.”

We don’t know at this stage what changes were made to the formidable custom-built Audi, but we do know the first iteration was good for up to 6000Nm of torque, rode on a combination of WRC-derived custom chassis components, wore a carbon and kevlar bodyshell and was stopped by high-performance Alcon callipers.

Hoonigan co-founder Brian Scotto described the S1 Hoonitron as “a modern version of a Group B all-out machine” when he and Block presented a walkaround video of the vehicle in October last year.
