We've all been there. You're stopped in a kilometre-long line of traffic, waiting for some explanation for the delay...but in between the occasional song, frequent ads and what passes for banter between radio 'celebrities' -- zilch.
Now, there's an option which will keep road users fully informed of the prevailing traffic situation in a timely way; it's called 'myDrive'.
Service provider Sentinel Content launched the new website (www.mydrive.com.au) yesterday. The site is Australia's first of its kind, dedicated to traffic and road conditions information.
An 'Auto Alert' feature can provide specific information concerning a route to users with email or SMS facilities for their mobile phones, PDAs and laptops, arming the recipient with information in advance of the trip.
The myDrive service is available nationally and information is supplied by state bodies such as the NSW RTA and VicRoads, plus the Bureau of Meteorology and the Australian Broadcasting Commission.
In the words of Craig Morrison, Sentinel Content's MD, "This means motorists no longer have to rely on radio or TV traffic updates, which often report congestion that has already cleared, or an accident which may have been missed entirely."
