The good news is that you may be able to change the car on your existing car insurance policy to your new car. Thanks to Bingle, part of the Suncorp Network, here are a few things to know before hitting the streets in your new car.
If you've bought a new car before selling the old one and want cover for both at the same time, with Bingle, you’ll need to take out a separate policy for your old car.
This is because Bingle can only cover one car at a time.
Even if the old car is sitting snug in your garage waiting to find a new home, you may want to keep a separate policy for it until its sold just in case something was to happen.
If you’re planning to sell your car privately through sites like carsales and need to let potential buyers test drive it, Bingle ask you to ensure you accompany anyone test driving your car.
Bingle Comprehensive Car Insurance customers may be covered for test drives other people take in their car. It is important to note that an unlisted driver excess, in addition to any other applicable excesses, will apply.
Terms, conditions and exclusions apply - read the Product Disclosure Statement and Premiums, Excesses & Claims Guide for more info.
You’re off to pick up your new car, so make sure it is insured before you arrive.
As long as it's a car that Bingle covers, you can simply change the car insured on your existing policy to the new one using our policy self-service.
Your Bingle car insurance policy remains the same - unless you've added any optional cover extras, updated the address where it will be parked overnight and your anticipated annual kilometre usage.
Your adjusted premium will be recalculated accordingly, including your monthly payment.
To update your car details on your Bingle Car Insurance policy, simply log in to your online account and head to the “Swap my car” page.
Next, enter your new car details and make any necessary adjustments.
Just be sure to update your details within 14 days of replacing your car to ensure you’re covered.
Pay the additional premium, if required and then you're good to go!
So, there you go, that’s what you need to know before hitting the streets in your new car. For more information, head to the Bingle website.
