We caught the 2025 RAM 1500 RHO testing overseas earlier this year, and although the TRX replacement has yet to be officially revealed, the high-performance pick-up is now a step closer to Australia.
That’s because we’ve uncovered a trademark filing for the RHO nameplate in Australia, made by RAM parent Stellantis in a bid to secure exclusive use of the moniker.
The application was filed recently under Class 12, specifically in adherence with the “land vehicles, namely passenger trucks” clause.
The RAM 1500 RHO is the upcoming replacement for the formidable RAM 1500 TRX, with a few key points of difference.
In particular, where the TRX packed a monstrous supercharged 523kW/882Nm 6.2-litre HEMI V8, the RHO will feature a twin-turbocharged straight six-cylinder mill offering a broader torque band but ultimately a lot less power.
RAM has been quiet on the subject ever since the new powertrain was confirmed for the RHO at the debut of the facelifted RAM 1500 line-up in November 2023.
That came a few months after North American executives admitted the TRX was dead as we know it, which in turn suggests that the next TRX will be a battery-electric behemoth with a tri- or even quad-motor EV powertrain offering upwards of 600kW and 1300Nm of torque.
It’s anticipated to leverage componentry from the rabid Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.
An electric TRX has been previewed a couple of times in recent years and will be well into development as a stunning new addition to the battery-electric RAM 1500 REV and RAM 1500 Ramcharger plug-in hybrid range.
