Leaked pictures of an insane car collection that would put Jay Leno’s to shame have surfaced online, revealing the thousands of cars belonging to the 29th Sultan of Brunei.
The collection is estimated to be worth an eye-watering $7.8 billion, spanning some 7000 vehicles – the actual figure is unknown – that, until now, have been kept private by the leader of the Southeast Asian nation, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
Well, the cat’s officially out of the bag, with several Instagram accounts – including @brunei_cars_2001 and @taffy_c_s_145 – posting shots of the Sultan’s prized collection, including around eight McLaren F1s, as well as a host of Bugattis, Lamborghinis, Porsches, BMWs and Bentleys.
Word is there are more than 650 Bentleys included in the collection as well as at least two Ferrari F40s, a bulletproof Porsche 928, and a host of custom-built one-off creations from Rolls-Royce.
A local motorsport hero in the form of a HSV VN SS Group A also features and it sits amongst a strange mix of classic Toyota RAV4s, Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons, and other Ferraris.
In another image, there’s a queue of at least five – near-identical – Mercedes-Benz S-Class models, while a navy 300SL and 600 (W100) limousine sit alone in the tiled garage.
More images are available via a public Google Drive page, which you can view here.
It’s unclear as to what state the photographed vehicles are in today, however, it’s understood most of the photos were taken back in 2001, when the Sultan’s brother (and original owner of the collection), Prince Jefri Bolkiah, was forced to hand over the cars to his brother in the late 1990s after some financial misfortunes.
In 2000, Prince Jefri was found to have embezzled a whopping US$14.8b ($A22.76b) during his stint as the country’s finance minister and chairman of the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) between 1986 and 1997.
