"World's tallest" Honda showroom

A Victorian Honda dealer has erected the world's tallest dealership

It's not often that dealerships make the news, but this particular Honda showroom has been dubbed the "World's tallest Honda dealership".

Yarra Honda has just moved into its imposing new showroom on the corner of Hoddle and Langridge streets in Collingwood, Victoria, not far from Melbourne city, which comprises a huge five storey tall structure, specifically designed to increase the appeal of new cars.

The ground floor houses the entrance foyer, which includes a concierge! Honda says the entire building is set up for wireless communication so there's no need for desks. Instead, the large showroom complex features round glass tables like "European café" complete with cushy chairs and flat panel TV screens.

In an interesting twist to the traditional showroom, sales staff are not on the floor, which the company says allows customers to "feel free to look at the cars in comfort".

Dealer Principal Tony Jowett is focused on making Yarra Honda, "The most convenient Dealership for the customer."

The plan is to have the dealership open seven days a week between 7am and 8pm to attract a wider range of buyers, many of whom are time short. Yarra Honda even has a shuttle bus to take clients directly to their workplace.

- Level One: service area with 25 bays
- Level Two: customer parking
- Level Three: roof-top showroom for pre-owned cars, complete with city views.

There are also special 'delivery rooms' where customers are shown the details of their vehicles, after which they take a ride in a special vehicle lift to ground level.

Dealer principal Tony Jowett said, "The creation of the new Yarra Honda facility commenced in 2007 and while the world economy has changed, the Honda brand remains very strong and I am confident that this long term investment will pay handsome dividends in the future."

"I have no doubt the sun will shine again and I think sooner rather than later," added Jowett.
