In a bid to bump up sales, Toyota Australia has released a special version of the Yaris compact car called the 'Edge'.

Priced at around $500 more than the standard models, Toyota claims it adds more than $1000 worth of extra features by including things like 15-inch alloy wheels from the range-topping YRX model.
The Toyota Yaris Edge also gets an upgraded stereo, from a single CD system to a six-stacker system with LCD display. Bluetooth telephony has been added as have audio streaming capabilities and a USB connection plus 'Edge' branded floor mats.
Some external features separate the Yaris Edge from its donor car as well, with foglamps and 'Edge' badging on the tailgate.
Toyota Australia's senior executive director of sales and marketing, David Buttner, said the Yaris Edge special edition combined "...chic city style and great fuel economy while being easy to manoeuvre in traffic."
Power for the Yaris runabout comes from a VVT-i 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine.
Toyota claims that manual versions of the Yaris Edge can travel around 700km per tank of fuel (42 litres), using an average of 6.0L/100km (auto versions are claimed to travel about 646km per tank of fuel).
