You can now build your own Back To The Future Time Machine with LEGO

“Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a LEGO DeLorean?”

Back to the Future and LEGO fans alike can now embark on their own time-travelling adventures with a brand-new three-in-one LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine set.

Inspired by the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 which was essentially the third member of the time-travelling team of Doc Brown and Marty McFly, this LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine set allows builders to recreate the car from either the first, second or third movie. To top it off, it also comes complete with a light-up flux capacitor, a box of plutonium, Marty’s hoverboard and LEGO minifigure versions of Doc and Marty.

For the uninitiated, Back to the Future was the original groundbreaking adventure trilogy that saw teenager Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) blasted to 1955 in a DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). He finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that could vaporise his future, and leave him trapped in the past. Powered by innovative special effects, unforgettable songs and nonstop action, Back to the Future is an unrivalled adventure that has stood the test of time.

Bob Gale, co-writer and co-producer of the trilogy said, “In the movie, Doc Brown spent almost 30 years and his entire family fortune to build his Time Machine. Fortunately, you’ll be able to build this LEGO model in significantly less time and with far less expense – although your completed version will be unable to travel through time!”

The LEGO set has authentically recreated details from the film trilogy including wheels that fold down for flight mode, the iconic light-up flux capacitor, printed dashboard dates, opening gull-wing doors and hood and many more Easter eggs including Marty’s hoverboard and swappable license plates. The set even comes with a banana and tin can, to power the Mr. Fusion device as seen on the vehicle at the end of the first movie.

To celebrate the launch of this collaboration, an animated short film inspired by the epic trilogy called “Brick to the Future” has been released. The adventure sees the intrepid LEGO minifigure duo of Doc and Marty head back through time to try and repair their time machine.
