You can now rent honourary Aussie Valtteri Bottas’ customised ute
The unofficial “third Aussie” on the Australian GP grid, Valtteri Bottas, has teamed up with Uber Carshare to convert a classic Aussie ute into the most epic road trip machine around.Ute? Check. Mullet? Check. Meat pie warmer? Check. Horn that sounds like a Kookaburra? Check.
F1 racing legend and honourary Aussie, Valtteri Bottas loves to have a bit of fun and truly does not take himself too seriously off the track.
His latest Aussie adventure sees him create the perfect car for an Easter getaway, designing and fully customising his ‘second’ car, an iconic Holden Commodore ute, complete with everything Aussies need for an epic road trip.
With Bottas busy driving his first car this weekend around Melbourne's Albert Park, his ‘second car' will be available to rent for free on the Uber Carshare app (previously known as Car Next Door) from Friday 22 March until Friday 12 April 2024 in Melbourne. So ‘push push push’ to make sure you don’t miss out.
The vehicle is technically owned by Uber Carshare (but don't let that get in the way of a fun ride) and is available to book in Melbourne for a maximum of 48 hours from 9am 22 March until 11:59pm on 12 April 2024. A maximum of one booking per member is allowed during this period.
The Finnish F1 racer is no stranger to Australia, spending his off-season travelling the country with his partner Tiffany Cromwell, an Australian road and gravel cyclist champion. So, he knows firsthand what the ultimate road trip car needs.
“This is a beautiful country and Aussies have welcomed me with open arms. I want to repay this love by loaning them my ‘second’ car - the ultimate road trip car - while I’m busy racing my first car.” Says Valtteri.
All modifications and additions to the ute truly give this car a unique and quirky take on the types of features you need for an Aussie road trip. Features include mullet aeration technology, a meat pie warmer, an esky to keep drinks cold, a bike rack, a detachable hills hoist, a freshwater shower, driver's arm tan protection, and a bug reduction system or BRS.

Don’t worry if you miss out on the chance to rent Valtteri’s ute, the honourary Aussie has given 10 Uber Carshare cars across the network the “VB seal of roadtrip-approval”. The first person to book any VB roadtrip-approved car will receive a free VB ‘road trip kit’ stocked with a car air freshener, beach towel, drinks cooler, sunnies, and more.
