Charge Your Car Day a timely reminder for a battery health check-up

For most Aussies, the school holidays are either well and truly upon us or just coming to an end, and if you’ve spent more time ‘laxing about at home the last few weeks, your vehicle might have been having a well-earned rest, too.

But too much rest isn’t always a good thing for your car, particularly when it comes to your vehicle’s 12-volt battery, which can quickly go flat if neglected.

Luckily - for those not stuck somewhere with a dead battery - there’s a special day for almost anyone (and anything) these days and the all-important ‘Charge Your Car Day’ is here again to serve as a reminder to keep on top of battery maintenance.

That’s right, Saturday October 5 is ‘Charge Your Car Day’ and to help Aussies get equipped, battery charger company CTEK is offering 20 per cent off its range of intelligent charging and jump-starting solutions at Repco stores (and online) from October 2-13.

According to CTEK, the NRMA attended a whopping 402,000 call outs across NSW for flat batteries in 2023 alone, with the inconvenient occurrence said to be the main culprit for breakdown call outs.

The average 12-volt battery replacement can cost as much as $573 for those requiring a call-out, according to CTEK, which says it is “significantly cheaper” to prevent an issue than it is to rectify when things go wrong.
