Zagame relaunches Ferrari in Richmond

Big bash on the eve of the AGP marks makeover for Melbourne Ferrari dealership

Samantha Jade sang, AFL legend Dermot Brereton hosted, and guests sipped on their Veuve Clicquot for the official re-opening of Zagame's Ferrari dealership in Swan Street Richmond.

The event, held on Wednesday, was a night for the A to D-list celebs to turn out in force – which is why none of the editorial staff at motoring.com.au were anywhere to be seen. Instead, Ferrari F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez was joined by Gina Liano and Lydia Schiavello of 'The Real Housewives of Melbourne' fame.

Present to mark the occasion was LaFerrari, an F1 Ferrari race car, a California T and F12, with a 'Golf Edition' FF – replete with tartan trim – to illustrate what can be done by 'carefully' ticking the options boxes when ordering a new Ferrari. An auction held during the night raised money for Sony Foundation's youth cancer support program, You Can. The charity will contribute over $115,000 to the construction of the 'You Can' Youth Cancer Centre at the Peter MacCallum Hospital in Melbourne.

"It is with great pleasure we relaunch this stunning new showroom, complete with the latest Ferrari corporate image, which will be incorporated for the first time in Australia," said Ferrari Australia CEO, Herbert Appleroth, pictured here with Zagame Ferrari MD, Bobby Zagame.

"In the heart of Melbourne, this new modern building will not only be the landmark of the area, but also an important pillar in the Ferrari dealer network globally. The significant investment made by Zagame proves the strength and confidence of our partner in the Ferrari brand and the future," Appleroth was quoted saying in a press release.

Zagame, the firm, has officially distributed Ferraris in Australia since 2006.

This week has seen plenty of movement in the prestige automotive retail supply chain. In addition to the Zagame event, Audi has announced changes to its dealer network, with the Doncaster (Melbourne) dealer now operating out of a much larger premises and a new site has opened in Indooroopilly (Brisbane). Well known Victorian dealer Lance Dixon has launched new Jaguar Land Rover showrooms – also in Doncaster – and Mercedes-Benz opened its new AMG Centre in Brisbane.
