Overview
The R8 brings a big dose of the exotic to Audi, providing an instant challenger to Porsche and numerous Italian marques. Strongly linked to the Lamborghini Gallardo supercar, the mid-engined R8 mixes stratospheric performance with Audi finesse and driver-friendly ergonomics for a price. And the pace steps up with the 5.2-litre V10 version introduced during 2009. With 386kW/530Nm of normally aspirated power and revised ratios for its 6-speed manual and R tronic gearboxes it eliminates any deficits (as if) in the V8's accelerative abilities. 100km/h appears in 3.9 seconds yet fuel consumption is only marginally increased (by 0.1l/100km) to 14.7l/100km.
