It's not a true off-roader but nothing else gets near it for sheer on-road ability and it will tackle grubby bush tracks better than anything short of a true off-roader. The big BMW offers the choice of four engines: A 180kW/540Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel (xDrive30d), a 225kW/400Nm TwinPower 3.0-litre six-cylinder (xDrive53i), a 225kW/600Nm xDrive40d Sport 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel and a 300kW/600Nm xDrive50i Sport 4.4-litre petrol V8.
