Minimalism isn't expressed much more eloquently than this. Britain's bare-bones Caterham sports cars are a direct throwback to 1960s club racers where power-weight ratios are achieved by taking as much out as possible, then squeezing in a small, manic four-cylinder engine to produce a most exhilarating experience. The entry level SVR 120 version uses a new generation 1.6-litre 85kW four-cylinder Ford Sigma engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and has a semi-independent de Dion rear suspension. Options include a six-speed gearbox, ventilated AP Racing front brakes, Avon CR500 tyres on 15-inch alloy rims and a carbon fibre dash.
