Overview
The ninth generation Civic Hybrid follows Honda's low profile approach of letting it all work in the background. You can monitor the process if desired, plus call on one of three different drive modes depending on how green you're feeling at the time. The power train now features a larger 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine, assisted by a 17kW electric motor which also doubles as the starter. Energy is stored in a new Lithium-ion battery pack, with the whole power unit delivering drive via a CVT. Idle-stop initiates when stationary and re-starts then engine when the brake is released.
