AE.V4 MY22 plug-in Premium Fastback 5dr DCT 6sp 1.6i/44.5kW Hybrid Hyundai's first IONIQ mounted a big challenge in the growing green segment of the market. Offered in regular and plug-in hybrid form, or in full-electric guise, the IONIQ came in Elite and Premium grades. Undercutting competitors such as the Toyota Prius and Renault Zoe, it came with standard autonomous emergency braking, an eight-year battery warranty and an attractive capped-price servicing deal. The regular hybrid's quoted fuel consumption was as low as 3.4L/100km, while the plug-version was quoted at an astonishing 1.1L/100km. The full-electric BEV version consumed no petrol at all, claiming range of around 311km (NOTE: The highly-acclaimed, all-electric replacement IONIQ 5 arrived in Australia in late 2021).
