Overview
The late Colin Chapman's Lotus brand made a name for bold innovation and an uncompromising attention to road handling on or off the track. Today the company is more known for quirky-looking but raw-bones track cars parading as road cars. The two-seat Elise model fits the mould perfectly with its no-frills accommodation and eye-popping roadholding not to mention neck-snapping acceleration available through the combination of high relative power outputs and light overall weight. The six-speed manual, mid-mounted 163kW/212Nm 1.8-litre VVT , variable valve-lift four-cylinder rockets the tight-fitting and firm-riding Elise SC Roadster to 100km/h in a mere 4.6 seconds.
