Overview
The first Lotus Europa was the mid-engined #bread van# coupe from 1968 - an era where individuality was the rule. Today#s Europa still embodies Lotus principles # minimalist everything except performance # but looks very much like a 21st century specialist coupe. Weight is important: the Europa tips the scales at a remarkably low 995kg, unleashing the mid-mounted 147kW 2.0-litre turbo four so it can accelerate to 100km/h in just 5.8 seconds. It handles and brakes like a racecar, meaning there are compromises on the road. Dual airbags and ABS, but no stability control, although there#s air-conditioning, power windows and CD audio.
