The Lotus Exige S comes with a potent supercharged 1.8-litre engine employing variable timing and valve-lift. Delivering 163kW/215Nm and with a kerb weight of just 935kg, it reaches 100km/h in a mere 4.3 seconds. Dual airbags are standard, as are 8-spoke Lotus alloy wheels and ABS braking with cross-drilled brake discs. Air-conditioning, power windows and four-speaker CD audio take some of the bare-bones nature out of the low-slung sportster.
