Overview
While the manual MX-5 delivers its maximum power 300rpm higher, the 2.0-litre DOHC in-line four-cylinder petrol engine mated to the 'Activematic' auto pumps out the same 118kW, but at just 6700rpm. Torque is the same: 188Nm at 5000rpm. With paddles on the steering wheel, you have full control over the shift points when your sporting mood takes over. As a compliment the steering has been sharpened with revised front suspension geometry and the general opinion is they've got it pretty well right with minimal compromise in ride quality.
